Notes
- Fridge: Wrap the cooled loaf tightly in plastic wrap or place slices in an airtight container lined with a paper towel to absorb excess moisture. Refrigerate for up to 5 days. The paper towel trick prevents sogginess while keeping the crumb soft. Bring slices to room temperature for 15 minutes before eating for the best texture.
- Freezer: Wrap the entire loaf or individual slices first in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn. Store in a labeled freezer bag for up to 3 months. For best results, squeeze out all air before sealing. Thaw overnight in the fridge or at room temperature for 2 hours before serving.
- Oven Reheat: Preheat your oven to 325°F. Place slices on a baking sheet and cover loosely with foil to prevent drying. Heat for 10 minutes until warmed through. This method restores a slightly crispy exterior while keeping the inside moist — closest to fresh-baked texture, according to FDA food safety guidelines for reheating baked goods.
- Microwave Reheat: Place a single slice on a microwave-safe plate with a damp paper towel draped over the top. Microwave on medium power for 20 seconds. Check and add another 10 seconds if needed. The damp towel adds steam, preventing the edges from turning rubbery — a common microwave pitfall with quick breads.
- Air Fryer Reheat: Set your air fryer to 300°F. Place slices in a single layer in the basket — no overlapping. Heat for 3 minutes, flipping halfway through. This method creates lightly toasted edges with a warm, soft center, making day-old slices taste almost better than fresh.
