Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 16 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together 4 cups of flour and a pinch of salt.
  3. Combine: Add the yeast mixture, 1/4 cup of melted butter, and 1 egg into the flour mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: Beat 16 oz of cream cheese with 1/2 cup of sugar until smooth. Add 1/2 cup of sour cream and 2 eggs, mixing until well combined.
  6. Roll Out the Dough: Once risen, roll the dough into a large rectangle on a floured surface. Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle with a mixture of 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon.
  7. Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased springform pan.
  8. Second Rise: Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Layer with Cheesecake: Pour the cheesecake filling over the rolls, ensuring they are well coated. You can gently press them down to submerge slightly.
  10. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the cheesecake is set and the rolls are golden brown.
  11. Cool: Allow the cheesecake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing the sides. Let it cool completely before serving.
