Description

Elegant and simple two-cheese puff pastry bites filled with prosciutto, perfect for any gathering. These golden, flaky appetizers are easy to prepare and impress guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 slices prosciutto, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly flour your work surface and roll out thawed puff pastry sheet. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Brush a thin layer of Dijon mustard across the surface of the puff pastry.
  3. Sprinkle the grated mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the pastry, followed by the chopped prosciutto. Add black pepper and thyme leaves if using.
  4. Fold the pastry in half to cover the filling, then press gently to seal. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut into 1.5-inch squares or rectangles.
  5. Place the pieces on your prepared baking sheet. Brush each piece with beaten egg and bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  6. Let them cool for 5 minutes before serving. These bites can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Thaw puff pastry in the refrigerator for best texture.
  • Avoid overfilling to prevent leaks during baking.
  • Brush with egg wash for a golden finish.
  • Assemble ahead and refrigerate or freeze before baking.
  • Swap cheeses or fillings for variations.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes to regain crispiness.
