Description

Enjoy these melt-in-your-mouth Sweet Churro Donut Bites. They are soft, pillowy donuts coated in a warm, buttery cinnamon-sugar mixture. This easy recipe requires no deep frying and uses simple ingredients, making them perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp Butter, melted (for coating)
  • 1/2 cup Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture (for coating)
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate (optional, for ganache drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and 1/4 cup of melted butter until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a pourable batter forms. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into a donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the donut bites cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  8. While the donuts cool, melt the additional 2 tbsp of butter. If using, melt the chocolate for the ganache. Prepare your cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  9. Brush each warm donut bite with the melted butter, then roll immediately in the cinnamon-sugar blend.
  10. Serve the Sweet Churro Donut Bites warm, with an optional chocolate ganache drizzle.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh baking powder.
  • Adjust the cinnamon-sugar ratio to your preference.
  • These donut bites are best enjoyed fresh.
  • Flax eggs or unsweetened applesauce can be used as vegan substitutes for eggs.
  • Plant-based milk and coconut oil can be used for a dairy-free option.
  • Add cocoa powder to the batter for a chocolate version.
  • Experiment with spices like nutmeg or cardamom in the coating.
  • Finely chopped fruits like mashed banana or apple can be added to the batter.
  • Chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts can be mixed into the batter for added crunch.
  • Add orange zest to the batter for a bright flavor.
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper in the cinnamon-sugar mixture adds a spicy kick.
  • Ensure each donut cavity is filled only 2/3 full to prevent overflowing.
  • Rolling warm donuts in cinnamon-sugar helps the coating adhere better.
  • Use short bursts in the microwave when melting chocolate to prevent overheating.
  • Allow donuts to cool slightly in the pan to prevent sogginess.
