- 500 g chicken thighs or breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (for sauce)
- Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
- Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Toss chicken pieces in a bowl with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and mix honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger; bring to a simmer.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet and toss in the sauce, heating through for 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
If you want a bit of heat, consider adding red pepper flakes to the sauce. Serve over rice or alongside steamed vegetables.
