Description

A quick and delicious Sticky Honey Chicken recipe that combines tender chicken with a sweet and savory honey glaze, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken thighs or breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (for sauce)
  • Toasted sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Toss chicken pieces in a bowl with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and mix honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger; bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet and toss in the sauce, heating through for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Transfer to a serving plate and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

If you want a bit of heat, consider adding red pepper flakes to the sauce. Serve over rice or alongside steamed vegetables.
