Description

Sitaphal Phirni Motichoor Cups is a festive Indian dessert featuring creamy custard apple phirni nestled inside sweet motichoor ladoo cups, garnished for elegance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Phirni:
  • 1 cup Short Grain Rice (soaked and drained)
  • 4 cups Whole Milk
  • 3/4 cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup Custard Apple Pulp (or substitute with mango or lychee)
  • 1 teaspoon Cardamom Powder
  • For Assembly:
  • 6 pieces Motichoor Ladoos (store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons Slivered Pistachios (for garnish)
  • Pistachio Powder (for garnish)
  • Edible Gold Foil (for garnish)
  • Pomegranate Seeds (for garnish)
  • Saffron (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Phirni Base: Blend short grain rice with some whole milk until smooth.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk to a gentle simmer. Gradually stir in the rice paste and continue stirring until the mixture thickens to a creamy consistency.
  3. Flavor the Phirni: Mix in sugar and continue simmering while stirring until it becomes velvety.
  4. Stir in the custard apple pulp along with cardamom powder.
  5. Chill this mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to achieve a thicker consistency.
  6. Form Ladoo Cups: Gently press the motichoor ladoos against the sides of a mold or your serving cups, shaping them into little cups.
  7. Assemble Cups: Once the phirni is chilled, pipe it generously into the ladoo cups, being careful not to overflow.
  8. Garnish: Sprinkle with pistachio powder, add pomegranate seeds, and top with edible gold foil for an elegant touch. Optionally, add saffron.

Notes

  • Best enjoyed freshly made.
  • If refrigerated, allow to chill slightly before serving for optimal flavor and creaminess.
  • Store assembled cups in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
  • For longer storage, separate phirni and ladoo cups.
