Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk (or almond milk)
  • 1 egg (or 1/4 cup applesauce for vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Toppings: powdered sugar, chocolate glaze, sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl and blend until smooth.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat to about 350°F (175°C).
  4. Shape the donuts using a piping bag and carefully squeeze the batter into the hot oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  6. Remove from oil, drain on paper towels, and top as desired.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the batter to maintain a light texture. If the oil smokes, reduce the heat to prevent burning.
