- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup softened butter (for icing)
- 1/4 cup canned or regular milk
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder (for icing)
- 3 cups powdered sugar (for icing)
- Dash of salt (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
- Melt 1 cup of butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, and a dash of salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, 2 cups of sugar, and mix well. Add 4 eggs and 4 teaspoons of vanilla, mixing until combined.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- If using, fold in 1 cup of chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Once cooled, prepare the icing by mixing 1/4 cup softened butter, 1/4 cup milk, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, and 3 cups powdered sugar until smooth. Frost the brownies once cooled.
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
