Description

A nostalgic and delightful homemade candy perfect for satisfying sweet cravings and sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×9-inch square pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine granulated sugar, heavy cream, corn syrup, butter, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Allow the mixture to come to a boil, stirring occasionally to avoid burning, until it reaches the soft-ball stage at about 234°F (112°C).
  4. Once at the right temperature, remove from heat and let cool for about 10 minutes. Then add vanilla extract.
  5. When the mixture has cooled to a manageable temperature, butter your hands and start pulling the candy until it becomes stiff and glossy.
  6. Shape the pulled candy into a log or fun shapes, place in the prep pan, and let set for about an hour.
  7. Once firm, slice into pieces and enjoy!

Notes

Chill the candy if it’s too sticky to pull. Consider using a kitchen scale for uniform sizes.
