Description
A nostalgic and delightful homemade candy perfect for satisfying sweet cravings and sharing with loved ones.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Grease a 9×9-inch square pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine granulated sugar, heavy cream, corn syrup, butter, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Allow the mixture to come to a boil, stirring occasionally to avoid burning, until it reaches the soft-ball stage at about 234°F (112°C).
- Once at the right temperature, remove from heat and let cool for about 10 minutes. Then add vanilla extract.
- When the mixture has cooled to a manageable temperature, butter your hands and start pulling the candy until it becomes stiff and glossy.
- Shape the pulled candy into a log or fun shapes, place in the prep pan, and let set for about an hour.
- Once firm, slice into pieces and enjoy!
Notes
Chill the candy if it’s too sticky to pull. Consider using a kitchen scale for uniform sizes.
