Ingredients

- 4 cups of water
- 2 tablespoons of Kashmiri Himalayan Green Tea
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1–2 pods of star anise
- 2 crushed cardamom pods
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups of whole milk (or almond milk for a vegan option)
- Sugar or honey to taste
- Crushed nuts (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Gather all the ingredients and crush the cardamom pods if not done yet.
- In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
- Add 2 tablespoons of green tea into the water and allow it to steep for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the baking soda and boil for an additional 2 minutes.
- Add the star anise, crushed cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick; let simmer for 1 minute.
- Reduce heat and allow the tea to simmer for 20-30 minutes, enhancing the flavors.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt and gradually stir in the 2 cups of milk, bringing to a gentle boil.
- Once the tea takes on a beautiful pink hue, remove from heat.
- Strain the tea into cups, sweeten with sugar or honey, and garnish with crushed nuts.
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute whole milk with almond milk or coconut milk. Adjust sweetness to taste with honey or sugar.
