- 1 cup sugar
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ¼ cup sugar

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Let the cake cool completely.
- In a saucepan, mix red wine, orange juice, lemon juice, and sugar. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves.
- Poke holes in the cooled sponge cake and drizzle the sangria mixture over it.
- Top with fresh fruit slices and serve.
Notes
If you soak it too much, call it ‘extra moist’ to embrace the flavor. Consider adding a sprinkle of cinnamon for a twist.
