Description

Delicious homemade cinnamon rolls topped with a creamy frosting.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp pink food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, food coloring, and vanilla.
  2. Gradually mix in flour until combined. Knead on a floured surface for about 7 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl to rise for 1 hour.
  3. Roll out dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll tightly and cut into slices.
  4. Place rolls on parchment-lined baking sheets to rise for another 30 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cool slightly before topping with cream cheese frosting.
