- For the Cheesecake Layer:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Orange food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper or foil, lightly spraying with non-stick spray.
- In a bowl, mix sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients for the brownie batter until just blended.
- Reserve about 1/4 cup of the brownie batter for swirling later.
- Spread the remaining brownie batter into the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add orange food coloring to the cream cheese mixture and mix until uniform.
- Spread the orange cream cheese layer evenly over the brownie base.
- Drop small blobs of the reserved brownie batter over the cream cheese layer.
- Gently swirl the brownie batter into the cream cheese layer with a knife or skewer to create a Halloween swirl design.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the brownies are set.
- Let the brownies cool completely before slicing into squares.
Notes
- Use a good quality gel or liquid food coloring for a vibrant orange color.
- You can swap food coloring for different holidays.
- If short on time, you can use a brownie mix, but adjust baking time as needed.
- Double the recipe and bake in a 9×13 pan for a larger batch.
