Rich dark brownie meets creamy orange cheesecake in a delicious spiral. These Halloween Swirl Cream Cheese Brownies are a festive and impressive dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brownie Layer:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Cheesecake Layer:
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Orange food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper or foil, lightly spraying with non-stick spray.
  3. In a bowl, mix sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, oil, and vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients for the brownie batter until just blended.
  6. Reserve about 1/4 cup of the brownie batter for swirling later.
  7. Spread the remaining brownie batter into the prepared baking dish.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  9. Add orange food coloring to the cream cheese mixture and mix until uniform.
  10. Spread the orange cream cheese layer evenly over the brownie base.
  11. Drop small blobs of the reserved brownie batter over the cream cheese layer.
  12. Gently swirl the brownie batter into the cream cheese layer with a knife or skewer to create a Halloween swirl design.
  13. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the brownies are set.
  14. Let the brownies cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • Use a good quality gel or liquid food coloring for a vibrant orange color.
  • You can swap food coloring for different holidays.
  • If short on time, you can use a brownie mix, but adjust baking time as needed.
  • Double the recipe and bake in a 9×13 pan for a larger batch.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
  • Wrap individual pieces and freeze for up to 3 months.
