Description

Ingredients

  • Enough oil for deep frying
  • 1/3 cup butter (for glaze)
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining milk, boiling water, and sugar with the yeast, then let it sit until foamy.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: sift flour, remaining sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Incorporate butter into the dry ingredients.
  4. Add the egg and yeast mixture to form a smooth dough.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface until springy.
  6. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  7. Shape the doughnuts and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Fry the doughnuts in batches until golden brown.
  9. Prepare the glaze by melting butter and mixing it with confectioners sugar, vanilla extract, and hot water.
  10. Glaze the warm doughnuts and place them on a wire rack to set.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, substitute milk and butter with almond milk and coconut oil. Consider adding sprinkles or other toppings for customization.
