Description

Irresistibly delicious homemade Glazed Donuts that fill your kitchen with heavenly aromas and delight your taste buds.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg (or cinnamon)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  3. Heat about 2 inches of oil in a pot or deep skillet over medium heat.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick, and cut out donuts using a cutter or glass.
  5. Fry the donuts for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  6. Transfer the fried donuts to a wire rack to cool slightly.
  7. In another bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Dip the warm donuts into the glaze and let rest on a rack until it sets.

Notes

If the glaze is too thick, add more milk; if too thin, stir in more powdered sugar. Save scraps from donut cutouts to fry as donut holes.
