Description
This homemade garlic knots recipe features soft, buttery knots with rich garlic and herb flavor. Perfect as an appetizer or side dish.

- 3 and 3/4 cups bread flour
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1 envelope active dry yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 and 1/2 cups warm water (110 – 115°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup fresh parsley, minced
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt or garlic powder
- 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, combine bread flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Whisk gently.
- Turn the mixer on low and slowly add warm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a dough ball forms.
- Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead gently until smooth. Form into a ball.
- Grease a bowl with 2 teaspoons olive oil. Place dough in the bowl, cover, and let rise for 90 minutes.
- Turn out dough, divide into two parts, and let rest for 10 minutes.
- Dust rounds with flour, cut into quarters, and then halve for a total of 16 pieces. Shape into knots.
- Place knots on a baking sheet, cover loosely, and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 450°F. Melt butter, add garlic, and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Stir in parsley and garlic salt.
- Remove plastic wrap from knots, brush with garlic butter, and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes, brush with remaining garlic butter, sprinkle with Parmesan, and serve warm.
Notes
- These knots pair well with marinara sauce.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in the oven for best texture.
