Ingredients
Scale
- 1 10-oz can French onion soup
- 1 1-oz envelope dry onion soup mix
- Half Cup (1 stick) butter and melt it
- 2.5 pounds russet potatoes, thinly cut
- 2 cups of shredded Gruyere cheese
Instructions
- The oven should be heated to 375 degrees (190 degC).
- Wash, peel, and slice thinly your russet potatoes.
- A large mixing bowl combines together the French onion soup along with the dry onion soup mix and butter that has been melted until it is well mixed.
- In a baking dish that has been greased, lay out an even layer of potatoes. Pour a little of the soup mix onto the potatoes. Repeat the layers until all potatoes and the soup mixture are consumed.
- Sprinkle the chopped Gruyere cheese evenly on the top.
- Bake the dish in aluminum foil for about 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes up to the point that the potatoes become soft and the cheese has a golden brown color.
Notes
- Make sure you slice the potatoes equally so that they cook evenly.
- You can add extra cheese on top if you’re a cheese lover!
- You can also use other kinds of cheese, such as mozzarella or cheddar, for an alternative flavor.
