Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 dozen Fresh oysters (High-quality, closed, and sea-smelling)
  • 1 cup Buttermilk (For soaking)
  • 1 cup Cornmeal (Fine grind for extra crispiness)
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour (Substitute with almond or gluten-free flour if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (Adjust for heat preference)
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika (Smoked paprika adds depth of flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper (To taste)
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil (High smoke point oil)
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise (Greek yogurt can be used for a healthier alternative)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (Or yellow mustard if on hand)
  • 1 tablespoon Hot sauce (Customize the spiciness)
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice (Freshly squeezed for best flavor)

  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry oysters for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
