- 12 oz jumbo pasta shells
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Spinach or mushrooms (optional)
Instructions
- Prep Your Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients and chop the garlic and parsley.
- Cook the Pasta Shells: Boil salted water and cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Filling: Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add Italian seasoning and garlic, cooking for an additional minute.
- Combine Filling Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef, ricotta cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
- Assemble the Shells: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Stuff each shell with the beef and cheese mixture and arrange in the dish. Pour remaining marinara sauce on top and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Garnish with extra parsley if desired and enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to customize the filling with additional vegetables or substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based meat.
