Description

Delicious and comforting stuffed pasta shells filled with creamy ricotta and ground beef, topped with marinara and cheese.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz jumbo pasta shells
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Spinach or mushrooms (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Gather all your ingredients and chop the garlic and parsley.
  2. Cook the Pasta Shells: Boil salted water and cook the jumbo pasta shells according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Filling: Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Add Italian seasoning and garlic, cooking for an additional minute.
  4. Combine Filling Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef, ricotta cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
  5. Assemble the Shells: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Stuff each shell with the beef and cheese mixture and arrange in the dish. Pour remaining marinara sauce on top and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  6. Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve: Garnish with extra parsley if desired and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to customize the filling with additional vegetables or substitute ground beef with turkey or plant-based meat.
