Description
This recipe features tender and juicy chicken tenderloins marinated and grilled to create a homemade version of Chick-fil-A’s grilled chicken nuggets.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs. chicken tenderloins, sliced in half into 2-inch pieces and patted dry
- 1/3 cup olive oil (plus extra for greasing the pan)
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Chick-fil-A Sauce for serving
Instructions
- Combine olive oil, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, granulated sugar, liquid smoke, salt, and black pepper in a mason jar with a lid and shake vigorously until emulsified.
- Place the chicken pieces into a zip-top plastic bag and pour in the marinade. Remove the excess air from the bag, seal tightly, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes up to 4 hours.
- When ready to cook, discard the excess marinade from the bag. Preheat a ridged grill pan over medium heat for about five minutes. Grease the pan with olive oil.
- Place the marinated chicken pieces in the hot pan without overcrowding. Cook for about 4 minutes until grill marks form.
- Turn the nuggets over and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the grilled nuggets from the pan and serve immediately with Chick-fil-A sauce.
Notes
- The marinade can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- Adjust the cooking time based on your grill pan and stove settings.
