Description

This recipe features tender and juicy chicken tenderloins marinated and grilled to create a homemade version of Chick-fil-A’s grilled chicken nuggets.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs. chicken tenderloins, sliced in half into 2-inch pieces and patted dry
  • 1/3 cup olive oil (plus extra for greasing the pan)
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Chick-fil-A Sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Combine olive oil, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, granulated sugar, liquid smoke, salt, and black pepper in a mason jar with a lid and shake vigorously until emulsified.
  2. Place the chicken pieces into a zip-top plastic bag and pour in the marinade. Remove the excess air from the bag, seal tightly, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes up to 4 hours.
  3. When ready to cook, discard the excess marinade from the bag. Preheat a ridged grill pan over medium heat for about five minutes. Grease the pan with olive oil.
  4. Place the marinated chicken pieces in the hot pan without overcrowding. Cook for about 4 minutes until grill marks form.
  5. Turn the nuggets over and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. Remove the grilled nuggets from the pan and serve immediately with Chick-fil-A sauce.

Notes

  • The marinade can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on your grill pan and stove settings.
