Irresistible Christmas Gooey Butter Cookies for a Sweet Holiday Season


Ingredients

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ to 1 cup powdered sugar, for coating
  • Optional Add-ins: Sprinkles for color
  • Crushed peppermint for flavor
  • White chocolate chips for added sweetness

Instructions

  1. Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well blended.
  4. Gradually beat in the cake mix until a soft dough forms. It will be thick and sticky.
  5. Scoop 1-inch dough balls and roll each in powdered sugar until well coated.
  6. Place on prepared baking sheet 2 inches apart and bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  7. Let cool for 2–3 minutes on the pan before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling.
