How to Make Christmas Baklava

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound chopped pecans
  • 1/2 pound chopped walnuts
  • 23 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 pound package of Phyllo dough
  • 11/2 cups butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped pecans, walnuts, and ground cinnamon.
  3. Layer the Phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  4. Evenly distribute the nut mixture over the Phyllo layers.
  5. Continue layering with more Phyllo dough and butter until the nuts are covered.
  6. Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
  7. Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. To make the syrup, boil sugar and water until dissolved, then add honey and simmer.
  9. Pour syrup over the baklava after it comes out of the oven. Let it cool before serving.
