How to Make Christmas Baklava
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound chopped pecans
- 1/2 pound chopped walnuts
- 2–3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 pound package of Phyllo dough
- 1–1/2 cups butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the chopped pecans, walnuts, and ground cinnamon.
- Layer the Phyllo dough in a greased baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter.
- Evenly distribute the nut mixture over the Phyllo layers.
- Continue layering with more Phyllo dough and butter until the nuts are covered.
- Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
- Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
- To make the syrup, boil sugar and water until dissolved, then add honey and simmer.
- Pour syrup over the baklava after it comes out of the oven. Let it cool before serving.
