Description

Delicious homemade donuts topped with a rich chocolate glaze, perfect for breakfast or snacks.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt until mixed.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan to 350°F (175°C).
  5. On a floured surface, roll the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out donut shapes.
  6. Fry the donuts in hot oil, cooking for 1-2 minutes until golden, then drain on paper towels.
  7. To make the glaze, heat butter and cream until simmering, then pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 2 minutes before mixing until smooth.
  8. Dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate glaze, letting excess drip off, and place on a wire rack to set.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use oat or almond milk and dairy-free chocolate chips. For gluten-free donuts, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
