- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt until mixed.
- In a separate bowl, mix milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan to 350°F (175°C).
- On a floured surface, roll the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out donut shapes.
- Fry the donuts in hot oil, cooking for 1-2 minutes until golden, then drain on paper towels.
- To make the glaze, heat butter and cream until simmering, then pour over chocolate chips and let sit for 2 minutes before mixing until smooth.
- Dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate glaze, letting excess drip off, and place on a wire rack to set.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, use oat or almond milk and dairy-free chocolate chips. For gluten-free donuts, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
