Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until creamy.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually beat in the flour mixture until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, keeping space between each dollop.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.
- Let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Chilling the dough for 30 minutes before baking enhances flavors and helps cookies stay thick. Feel free to swap half of the chocolate chips with nuts or dried fruit.
