Description

These cheesy pizza pockets are a delicious, hand-held treat bursting with gooey mozzarella, zesty pepperoni, and rich pizza sauce, all wrapped in a flaky, homemade crust. Perfect as a quick snack, family dinner, or party appetizer.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold cubed unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add the milk while mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  6. Use a round cutter or glass to cut out circles from the rolled dough.
  7. Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto each dough circle, leaving a border around the edges.
  8. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and place a few slices of pepperoni on top of the sauce.
  9. Fold each dough circle in half over the filling. Press the edges to seal well.
  10. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch and to ensure they are sealed tightly.
  11. Place the pizza pockets onto the prepared baking sheet.
  12. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle dried oregano over the pockets.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown on top.
