Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold cubed unsalted butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the milk while mixing until a soft dough forms.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use a round cutter or glass to cut out circles from the rolled dough.
- Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto each dough circle, leaving a border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and place a few slices of pepperoni on top of the sauce.
- Fold each dough circle in half over the filling. Press the edges to seal well.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch and to ensure they are sealed tightly.
- Place the pizza pockets onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle dried oregano over the pockets.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- Let the pockets cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your cheesy pizza pockets!
