Description

Ingredients

  • 14 oz smoked sausage (Andouille or Kielbasa, sliced)
  • 1.5 cups white rice (Long grain, uncooked)
  • 3 cups chicken broth (Low sodium)
  • 1 medium yellow onion (Diced)
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (Adjust to taste)
  • 3 tbsp honey (For glaze)
  • 3 cloves garlic (Minced)
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (For umami)
  • 1 tbsp butter (Unsalted)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (Chopped garnish)

Instructions

  1. Sear sliced sausage in a large skillet until dark golden brown; remove to a plate.
  2. Sauté onion in the drippings, then add rice and Cajun seasoning; toast for 2 minutes.
  3. Add chicken broth, bring to boil, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes until tender.
  4. Whisk honey, garlic, and soy sauce. Stir into cooked rice with butter and sausage.
  5. Toss until coated and glossy; garnish with parsley before serving.
