- 1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1 (10.5 oz) can of Biscuits (cut into quarters)
- 1 (26 oz) bag frozen hash browns, thawed
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for gravy)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for gravy)
- 2 cups milk (for gravy)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (for gravy)
- ½ tsp onion powder (for gravy)
- Salt and pepper to taste (for gravy)
Instructions
- Brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up. Once fully cooked, set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter, stir in flour, and cook until it forms a roux. Gradually add milk, whisking until thickened. Add garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread thawed hash browns on the bottom, layer cooked sausage on top, and then place quartered biscuits on top. Sprinkle shredded cheese.
- Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour over the casserole.
- Pour the gravy over the casserole evenly.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Let rest before serving.
