Ingredients

- 6–8 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 package pie crusts
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Prep and mix apples with other ingredients.
- Assemble the pie in a prepared crust.
- Cover with second crust and make slits for steam.
- Brush with egg wash and bake for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes.
- Cool before slicing and serve.
Notes
For best results, use a mix of firm, tart apples. This pie can be made in advance and enjoyed for up to 5 days if stored properly.
